The Open Government Act (Wet open overheid, WOO) governs citizens’ right to access information from the government. The WOO guarantees that certain types of information are always made publicly available. In the coming years, we will make more information publicly available.
How do we handle WOO requests?
We assess whether the information in the requested documents can be disclosed under the WOO. The step-by-step plan below shows how we handle a WOO request.
The infographic ‘The handling of your WOO request’ outlines the six steps in the CCD’s procedure for handling WOO requests.
You send us your WOO request
You send us a letter or e-mail telling us which information you want to be made public. You can also call us.
We handle your request – collecting documents
We collect all the documents related to your request. We will contact you if we need more information about your request or if the handling of your request takes longer than four weeks.
We handle your request – viewpoint
If all or part of a document you are requesting was created by another organisation, we will ask that organisation for their opinion on the disclosure. They provide this in the form of a viewpoint (in Dutch: zienswijze).
We make a decision – part I
We assess the viewpoints and decide which parts of the documents will be made public. For example, we will not disclose the names of individuals.
We make a decision – part II
We send you a letter informing you of our decision.
We (partially) disclose documents
If we decide to disclose certain documents, we will do this within two weeks after the date of the decision letter. We will publish the documents online and send them to you. The individuals and organisations concerned are entitled to appeal our decision. If an appeal is submitted, it can take longer for the documents to be published.
Submitting a WOO request
You will find all information published about our work, in the WOO requests provided on this page. All publications are in Dutch. If the information you are looking for is not yet publicly available, you can submit a WOO request in one of the following ways:
